I recently went shopping for a new television and I was surprised by how the
measurements worked out.

I naturally assumed that a television screen would be square so a 32 inch television would be thirty-two inches going up and down as well as left and right.

Of course, I measured to make sure that my entertainment center would accommodate the new TV.

When I arrived at the electronics store I kind-of had a feeling that the televisions were just a tad smaller than I had measured.

I'm not the best when it comes to eyeing things up so I like to make sure by carrying a
measuring tape with me.

This is a good practice if you are buying things for your home.

A good measuring tape can save you a lot of hassles in the future because you are certain that you can fit the furniture into your home.

I have had
one too many experiences where I brought home a new piece of furniture just
to find that it was too big or too awkwardly small for the space.

I knew
that a 32 inch television would be ideal for the new entertainment center.

There was no real reason for me to measure the 32 inch television that I was
about to buy but like a jerk I had to try it out just to make sure.

The
sales associated pointed out that the sign said that it was a 32 inch
television then looked puzzled at the measuring tape in my hand.

I explained
that I was just curious.

As I was measuring the TV the sales associated muttered something about my
approach.

I didn't pay much attention because I was too surprised that it was indeed not a 32 inch television in front of me.

I announced the mistake quite proudly and quite loudly as well. This was my second mistake.

My one mistake was the way that I measured the 32 inch television.

I didn't know that you measured the set diagonally instead of side to side.

This was not my first mistake.

My first oops was coming into an electronics store with a measuring tape in the first place.

Just like the sales associated tried to explain to me.

A 32 inch television is really thirty-two inches if you measure it correctly.
