Airline ticket purchases

Sometimes, you may be able to get discounted vacation packages or airline ticket purchases, but not always.

With the prices of everything going up nowadays, it is no surprise that family vacation is costing a small that the airline ticket purchases alone would cost us nearly $1,200 for all of us to just get there.

Add the hotel expenses, meals and activities on top of all of that, and it was simply not affordable.

I tried to check into the costs of airline ticket purchases on multiple websites as well as directly, but they didn't vary too much.

In fact, some of the travel websites did cost a tiny bit less for their airline ticket purchases, but not nearly enough to make a vacation affordable.

We contemplated driving to Disney, but a two day drive with two youngsters wasn't very appealing.

There are lots of credit cards that offer incentives for traveling when you rack up points.

Those points can be used for airline ticket purchases though you may end up having to use that credit card in order to purchase the tickets.

That still might not be a bad idea.

I know many people who use their credit cards for everything imaginable during the course of a month just to earn the points and then pay the cards off in full once they get the statement.

That is easier said than done for me.

If you're disciplined enough to be able to not spend more than what you know you can pay off in full, or don't mind carrying a balance, it could be an excellent way to get discounted or free airline ticket purchases.

Though some credit cards may say that no black out dates apply when making your airline ticket purchases with their points, find out the facts before you start to earn the points and are disappointed later.

It never hurts to check and double check those facts.

Sometimes, you may be able to get discounted vacation packages or airline ticket purchases, but not always.

I've tried to get last minute airline tickets before and it costs even more money than it would if I'd purchased them well in advance.

That seems so bizarre to me.

If I pay for a last minute ticket, it is helping the airline out.

I mean, if I didn't buy the ticket, that seat would be empty and not making them any money.

You'd think that it should be discounted at least half the cost instead of doubling it.

However, there are some cases in which you can get discounted airline ticket purchases for last minute travel.

Do your research before committing.

Of course, the seats may not be appealing or you may be flying standby, but at least you'll make it to your destination.

Of course, if you're not lucky enough to collect points to get cheap or free airline ticket purchases, make sure that you check all of the prices with travel sites, travel agents or the airline directly before committing to that purchase.

Even saving a few dollars can make a difference in your vacation plans.
