If you want to make your hotel reservations online, you should make sure you read the fine print.

When I go away there are times when I must make hotel reservations and there are times when I don't.

I actually don't know why I do this, but there are times when I want to see what I am getting into before I decide if I want to stay there or not.

Though I have my favorite hotels, there are some that can be iffy if you stay in the wrong city.

If I am going to a large city, I know I had better make hotel reservations, even if there isn't huge event going on.

There are times when hotels sell out even when you least expect them to.

The larger cities have so much going on that you can't find a room in a good hotel if you tried.

This is when hotel reservations are a must, and should even confirm to make sure they have not somehow lost your reservation.

Though it is rare today, it just happened to me a few weeks ago.

I was lucky they had a few free rooms left.

Most hotels will allow you to cancel your reservation as long as you do so twenty-four hours in advance.

After that, you will have to pay full price or almost full price for your hotel reservations, even if you don't make it for some reason.

I had reservations at a hotel once when my car broke down and I knew I wouldn't get there.

Though they shouldn't have done it, the hotel let me get out of my reservations with no fee.

I was relieved because I was still a hundred miles away and it was two in the morning.

There was no way I'd get there.

If you make your hotel reservations through a discount site, you should know that you can save a lot of money but you will almost always have to prepay for your stay.

If you end up not going, you won't be able to get your money back.

However, if you really need to save some money on a vacation, this is the best way to make your hotel reservations.

If you run into a problem, most of these sites have a customer service number that you can call at any time for help.

They may not be able to get you a refund, but they can help when you need a good hotel room at the last minute in a different city.
