Learn to speak

Many people find that they learn better this way because they can do it at their own pace, and they don’t have to feel stupid reciting new words and accents in front of strangers or classmates

One thing I wish I had learned to do was to learn to speak a foreign language.

I had two years of French, and sadly, I apparently didn’t learn a bit of it.

I’m not sure how I passed any tests, and I guess I must not have had very good teachers because after two years of it I can say one sentence and I remember how to say ‘hello’ and ‘how are you’ respectively.

I once had nine week of Spanish and I think I remember more of that than I do of the two years of French.

They say it is harder to learn to speak a different language when you get older, but I have a sneaking suspicion that age doesn’t matter was much as willingness does.

I was required to take a language, but I really had no desire in high school to do so.

Had I been interested, I might have learned more.

If I decided now that I wanted to learn to speak a different language, I think I would learn a lot more than I did when I was sitting in class staring out the window and passing through no effort on my part whatsoever.

I remember that I chose French only because my best friend did.

She said that we could learn to speak a new language together, and it sounded like a lot of fun.

And as I said, it was required anyway. I started out find, and the beginning was great.

The ability to learn to speak in a different language was fascinating when I had someone who was willing to study with me, and wouldn’t make fun of my bumbling.

The problem was that I moved a few months into the class, and at the new school I didn’t have anyone to study with right away.

By the time I made friends I was already falling behind. It just got worse from then on.

If you want to learn to speak a foreign language today, you have more options than you did back in school.

You can get a DVD to help you out, or you can get a computer program that can help you learn to speak a different language from the comfort of your own home.

Many people find that they learn better this way because they can do it at their own pace, and they don’t have to feel stupid reciting new words and accents in front of strangers or classmates.
