Learning how to write

For those individuals learning how to write involves taking classes and fine tuning their written voice.

When most of us think about the process of writing it takes us back to our childhood when we first mastered the alphabet.

Unfortunately that’s not where learning how to write ends, and in order to communicate effectively in the written form, we all need some extra guidance.

For some people it goes beyond that because they’ve chosen to pursue a career in writing.

For those individuals learning how to write involves taking classes and fine tuning their written voice.

When I first decided on a career as a writer I was well beyond my college years.

Going back to a traditional campus for classes in learning how to write professionally just wasn’t something I was comfortable with.

So instead I turned to the Internet in my quest for learning the writing ropes.

I was actually startled by what I found.

There are literally thousands of websites with loads of information on learning how to write.

Some offer aspiring writers the chance to have their work critiqued by experts while others have tutorials on basic rules of grammar.

Taking it a step further than that was my goal so I started researching some of the courses that are available in the writing arena.

I was pleasantly surprised that so many accredited places were offering home study courses on learning how to write.

Some had dedicated their focus to a specialized area of writing.

There were courses on learning how to write poetry, learning how to write romance and even learning the specifics of writing a mystery.

Whatever your desire in writing was, it could be found online.

My love was found in writing humor so I needed to find a website that could help me nurture that.

There were several that seemed like a good fit but the one I eventually decided on was learning how to write humor by a comedy sketch writer.

He had years of experience in writing for both sketch comedy shows and sitcoms.



The course itself was very straightforward in addition to being affordable.

I was able to pay for it through a series of low monthly payments that really amounted to about the price of a cup of coffee a day.

Learning how to write humor using the course materials was easy.

I’d complete the assignments and then send them in for review.

The instructor would give me valuable feedback and help me tweak my material so it sounded more natural and less forced.

I ended up finishing the learning how to write humor class with a gig already lined up.

It was the best investment in my writing career I could have made.
