As a business school instructor, I am amazed at the level of incompetence and ignorance some of my students display as to certain social niceties.
Many of them do not know the basics of letter writing – many of them in fact don't know how to write a basic English sentence.
God only knows how they got into this university because I certainly don't.

It was really quite amazing!
I actually got the idea from one of my students who asked me how to write a letter of job offer.
At first, I was dismayed, but when I brought it up was one of my other students he had the same thing to ask.
Now I usually try to create a very open environment for my students to feel free to ask anything, and I felt that if I embarrassed him by mocking his remedial letter writing skills, I would compromise that classroom environment.
In the end I gave up and we spent the whole day on letting how to write letters of job offer.
Nonetheless, many of my students did not seem to understand that by the end of the day so I gave a homework assignment.
They were supposed to imagine And that they were the boss a student deferment had to write a letter of job offer.
When I got back the letters of job offer, however, I was quite surprised.
Many of them dared more than a little resemblance to each other.
Soon, I found out the reason.
