Meeting People Online

You have no way of knowing who you are really talking to so please think twice about meeting someone in person who you met online

You must be careful when meeting people online.

You have no way of knowing who you are really talking to so please think twice about meeting someone in person who you met online.

Parents must educate their children about the dangers of meeting people online.

Children and teens do not yet realize how dangerous the world can be and will not expect that the people they interact with online will be predatory.

All parents must seriously consider whether or not to even allow their children access to computers or the internet.

Ever since Dateline NBC has been airing shows about online predators, more and more people are opening their eyes to the sad truth: there are many adults out there who are looking for children for all the wrong reasons and your child may be their next target.

Children don’t know how much they are putting themselves at risk when meeting people online.

Please monitor any and all activities your child participates in on the internet and do not be afraid to remove the computer from your home if you think that your child may be getting himself or herself into trouble.

Please do not wait until it is too late.

Although there are many types of software out there designed to keep tabs on children’s internet use, you may find out about where they have been surfing and with whom too late.

It is very important that you try to be honest with your children about all the threats out there that they face every day including meeting people online.

Preparing your child for the real world may mean the difference between life and death.

If your child enjoys computers and the internet, or you think that they are meeting people online, you should block out as many threats as possible.

Download a great piece of security software and set the levels to not allow any sites that contain adult material.

Also, talk to your child about chat rooms and explain to them that the people that may try to contact them in these rooms may not be who they claim to be.

No parent wants to scare their child, but you must educate them about dangers and their own personal safety.

Losing a child is the absolute worst experience a parent can go through.

The guilt of not protecting a child kills parents.

If you could protect your child from every danger imaginable, you would.

It all starts at home.

Remember that computers and internet are not rights – they are privileges and as the parent, you decide if and when your child may have them.

Teach your children about talking to strangers and explain to them how this includes meeting people online.
