When I started my own online business, I had very high hopes. I was offering a terrific product at an unbeatable price, and I knew there was a big market out there for what I was selling. In addition, I tried to do a lot of different things to make my website attractive to customers. For example, I set up a blog and posted to it every day, I offered a free newsletter filled with useful information, and I answered all queries within 24 hours to show that I took customer service seriously. But those tactics didn't have much of an impact on traffic to my site. Nobody was coming and nobody was buying. That's why I've decided to implement search engine optimization techniques. Search engine optimization is a catch-all phrase that refers to steps you can take to improve a website's rankings in Google, Yahoo, AltaVista, MSN, and Dogpile, just to name a few of the most popular ones.
